Live Poker is RIGGED!

Went and played cards at the <a href=http://www.theborgata.com>Borgata</a> over the weekend.  Almost turned out to be a FANTASTIC day at the tables.  Oh yeah, that is until this happened….

 

I had been grinding away for maybe an hour and had built up my stack to about +70 give or take.  I get dealt queens in early/mid position.  I raise the $2 big blind to 10.  Late position in his AX wrap arounds bumps it to $25.  Not much of a read on him, in fact he hasn’t been getting in many hands.  I put him on a decent enough hand so I call another $15 putting the pot at 50 and change.  The flop is a beauty.  Qxx, but with two clubs.  I’m first to act and I bet 60.  Maybe a bit much and I actually think I played it a little scared.  I’m not sure if I should try and check raise the flop or bet half and see what happens.  Regardless, I get exactly what I wanted…he comes over the top all in.  I have him covered by quite a bit, but it’s another 82 to me.  EASY call.  We flip, and he’s got kings.  BEAUTIFUL!  Except for the punch in the stomach King to hit the turn.  Wow…that sucked.  I thought I was going to hurl.  I never got much traction after that and the wife was itching for me to join the rest of the crew.

 

All in all, I was happy with how I played (less a few loose calls late when I was hoping for something big).  I definitely think I can hang at the 1/2 game at the Borgata.  Especially on the weekend.  Sometimes you get unlucky, but that’s how it goes.  Hopefully next time, my big hand will hold up.

An update...

I swear this blog would be updated more frequently if the MAN didn't block blogs at work! I'll be setting up a mail to blogger email so I can start posting from my blackberry. Hopefully updates will be more often and fairly interesting - hopefully. Now I have to just figure out a way to work around the filters so I can get my daily reading in at the office. Reading blogs on my blackberry just isn't that fun/easy.

Blogger unblocked now at work???

Well, I'm posting again from work! NICE! Poker has been on a break since I totally tilted and lost a couple buy ins from horrendous play. BUT...on a brighter note, I got a Wii! I only have Wii sports but this is fun as hell. Guitar Hero III is set to arrive tomorrow though! That game rules.

The Terps are in a huge tail spin. The only chance at the tourney now is an ACC Championship game appearance (I think they can make it without winning it all, but less than a finals appearance will probably be another NIT for my Terps). Oh well... Hopefully next year they can get back to the NCAA ways. They need big men though. Could be another tough year.

Well, keeping my fingers crossed they go on a tear and at least make the finals. I can always dream!

I stink at Poker...Terps break my heart...etc...

At least I paid my car off :(. I tilted away a couple buy ins last week so no poker for me until my home game. My trip kings losing to a flush started the bloodbath and then I tried playing too many tables and I just kept donking, donking, and donking. I am very disappointed in myself. Time to tighten up, perhaps drop down a level, and concentrate on one table and maybe 2 max. I wish I could blame it on being drunk, but I was stone sober. Learning experience I suppose, but I am NOT happy with myself. I am a much better player than that.

I don't know if anyone watched Maryland/Clemson hoops game, but wow...what a comeback by Clemson and the buzzer beater 3 pointer to win in crushed me. That's the second worst defeat I've witnessed. The first being the Duke game back in 2000 or 2001 when they blew a 10 point lead with a minute to go. It'll take me some time to get over this one. They HAVE to beat UVA if they even want to consider a chance at the NCAA Tourney.

Pretty quiet on the Poker Front

Not much to report. I've been getting maybe one sng turbo in a week the last couple weeks, but that's about it.

The Terps have gone COLD. Keep your fingers crossed that they can put it together for the last three games. They may need to win them all to make the tourney. They are all winable games, but that's never stopped UMD from losing games they should win. Hopefully they can get their swagger back and run the board until the ACC Tourney. We'll see...

Blogger BLOCKED at work!

Ugh, well this royally sucks. My blogger access seems to be blocked at work! I can't believe it. I'm in front of my computer 90% of my work day and reading blogs is a nice distraction. The blocking software is down right now so I'm finally putting up a post before it's too late!

Not much poker going on. Just got back from Deep Creek Lake, MD yesterday from a long weekend with 4 other couples and their kids. Everyone had a blast. Good times. Even got some skiing in on Saturday. Good times.

The Terps are sitting at 7-4 in conference and if they can manage to go 3-2 the rest of the way, I think they'll be in the NCAA tourney for sure. Keeping my fingers crossed! It's not an easy path playing in the ACC, but hopefully they can keep the wins coming!

More to come later when hopefully I have a few minutes to post!

WHAT THE F*CK IS DAN SNYDER DOING???

Great article by Sally Jenkins in yesterday's Washington Post. She GRILLS Snyder. It's brilliant. The best line in the story is telling the Giants D-Cordinator to "Run, Spagnuolo. Run, as fast as you can." Too funny. Snyder is even topping himself as far as this hiring process has gone. Hell, coaches are now just using the once proud franchise as leverage to get better deals from their current team. Great job Danny Boy. Hope it was worth selling your soul. With him at the helm meddling the way he does, the Skins will never win again. I hate to say it and it saddens me to no end. I don't think the Skins will make it back to the top of the league until he realizes he's an asshat. I don't expect that to happen anytime soon.

On a brighter note, the Terps are doing pretty damn well lately. A big game against NC State tomorrow night though. A win there and they'll definitely be sitting pretty. I hope I'll have a better report than the last game I was at. If they win tomorrow, they'll be 6-3 in conference and alone in 3rd place. If they can match the first half conference record of 5-3, then I think they definitely get in the NCAA. We'll see though. Let's just hope they can keep rolling.
